In the Community: Sharing the Joy of Reading
The Rotary Club of Annapolis is helping make books more accessible to families throughout our community-one neighborhood at a time.
A recent story from Rotary International highlights the club’s Little Free Library program, which has placed 26 libraries in Annapolis over the past six years. Its newest installation features separate book boxes for children and adults at an affordable-housing community with an on-site Boys & Girls Club. Through donated books, community partnerships, fundraising, and dedicated volunteers, the program gives neighbors an inviting place to discover, enjoy, and exchange books.
SOFO is especially proud of the connections our members have to work like this. SOFO member Lori Stout is also a member of the Rotary Club of Annapolis, joining fellow Rotarians in supporting an organization dedicated to service and positive local impact.
Projects like the Little Free Libraries demonstrate what can happen when community organizations, local partners, and committed volunteers work together. They create opportunities, strengthen neighborhoods, and introduce more young readers to the lifelong joy of books.
