Covid 19 Adopt-A-Stop Program
Promoting Unity Through Public Art During COVID-19
During the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, SOFO partnered with local photographer David Hartcorn and FastSigns to help bring a message of unity, resilience, and community pride to the Forest Drive corridor. Through the City of Annapolis Adopt-A-Stop Program, a series of locally inspired photographs were transformed into large-format displays and installed at bus stops throughout the area, creating visual reminders of the strength and connection that define our community.
The project was made possible through a partnership between SOFO, local photographer David Hartcorn, FastSigns, and the City of Annapolis. Hartcorn’s photography captured the character, beauty, and spirit of Annapolis, while FastSigns donated printing services to produce the large-scale displays featured at bus stop locations along Forest Drive. Together, the project transformed everyday public spaces into welcoming visual landmarks that encouraged positivity and community connection during a time when many residents felt isolated.
The initiative was completed as part of the City of Annapolis Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Stop Program, which encourages businesses and organizations to help maintain and improve bus stops throughout the city. The program relies on community partnerships to keep public transit spaces clean, safe, and inviting while recognizing participating organizations for their contributions.
While SOFO’s mission includes supporting local businesses and advocating for the Forest Drive corridor, it also extends to projects that strengthen the overall community experience. Initiatives like this demonstrate how collaboration between businesses, local organizations, and community partners can create lasting positive impacts that benefit residents, visitors, and businesses alike.
